I also like Idun, and have followed them a while. I am looking to buy it around 300. One last thing I need to get past before I can pull the trigger however.

Do you have any thoughts about the quite substantial dilution which occurred in 2024? Shares outstanding went from 10.6 to 11.5 million. Directly before the dilution, the CIO sold 1/4 of his stake. The timing was not a good look, and I initially viewed the stock as a no-go for me. However, I do like the shareholder alignment in general.

Curious as to your thoughts. Thanks.

It’s a good point you make and it’s a bit of a grey area.

On the dilution, that could make sense given the issuance allowed them to reposition the balance sheet, continue their M&A programme and refinance debt at better terms. So not a huge issue for me given they were a younger group at the time, although over time these compounders should become self-financing and avoid issuance altogether, at least that has been what the best ones have done.

On the timing of the CIO sale, that looks quite bad.

I’m sure he has some justification for it that he would argue, but regardless the optics are pretty bad as local press picked up on. I would agree that it is a mark against him/ Idun.

Overall, given the superb alignment everywhere else, I would give them a pass on it and view it as more of a one-off but it’s a fair point you make and worth considering. For me, it is a mark against them and worth a question, but not enough to ding. But to each to their own!

Great question though, thanks. I must ask them about it some time.

Thank you, interesting article. I like your investment idea, especially the management alignment with shareholders is great to see. I might be interested in buying at lower prices myself. Currently there are some other options with potential higher upside out there, that’s the only regret with the setup for me.

Thanks, much appreciated.

Interested in those other options if you can share them!

Hi Value Junkie, you’re welcome. I really did appreciate your article.

I am currently working on my first full article on Substack, it is about one of the best of the other setups I mentioned. You can read it without paywall (at least the major part of it, you’ll get the full picture and company name) once I post it. After that I am planning on writing more articles about the other setups, however they will be for paid subscribers for the most part.

I would love to get your feedback on the idea once it is online.
